The group exhibition How the Land Lies took place at Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh, Ireland, from January 25th to May 2nd, 2020. The exhibition with five artists, myself (US/NL), Catriona Leahy (IE), Andrew Youngson (UK), Luci Eldridge (UK) and Wieteke Heldens (NL/US), is the second time we exhibited together exploring the theme of landscape. The first exhibition, Unfolding Landscape, was organized at De Cacaofabriek in Helmond, NL in 2018.

How the Land Lies continues that metaphorical excavation of invisible landscapes. We each use a variety of approaches that problematize established notions of landscape – be it natural, built or imagined – revealing hidden or latent features inscribed within. Through our work we offer a range of perspectives on how we experience, perceive and interpret our landscapes of the future as well as its cumulative and contested past.
