Extended Family Album, 2015

Extended Family Album

Extended Family Album was begun during an artist’s residency in February 2015 at the Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton, Connecticut. There I worked with a collection of photographs from the 1860’s to 1990 that belonged to my grandmother Charlotte Robb Bacon, looking for family resemblances across the generations.

The book consists of three parts; portraits, snapshots and an addendum with drawings of facial expressions missing from the family photos. At the bottom of the portrait and snapshot pages, a timeline of photographic frames marks the evolution of photography from its inception to the recent past.
